About This Course
This immersive course offers participants a captivating introduction to the fascinating world of diamonds
- The essential knowledge on diamond, synthetic diamond and diamond simulants eg moissanite, cubic zirconia and other colorless gems
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in the diamond industry, eg. HPHT & CVD lab- grown diamonds
- Skills and techniques required to identify natural diamond from synthetic (Lab-Grown) and its simulant, use of handheld instruments to separate natural gem from lab grown diamond
- Treatments of the diamonds, eg laser drill, facture filled, HPHT color enhancement etc & their impact to the appearance and the value of the of diamonds
- Grading diamonds based on the 4Cs (color, clarity, cut, and carat) and other key characteristics
NGI grants participant a Certificate in Diamond Identification & Grading as a recognition of their proficiency.

What You Will Learn
- The fundamentals of diamonds, synthetic diamonds and diamond simulants
- The processes involved in producing synthetic (lab-grown) diamonds. Eg HPHT and CVD
- An introduction to methods, gemological instruments (diamond testers in current market) and techniques that distinguish natural diamond from lab-grown diamond ( HPPT, CVD, Type IIa) and diamond simulants, eg moissanite, cubic zirconia, and other colorless gems
- When to send the sample to gem laboratory to further tests
- Understanding surface features, inclusions, color, cutting proportions, and treatments of natural diamonds eg. laser drill, fracture filling, irradiation and HPHT
- The instruments and techniques used to perform diamond grading eg. Microscope, diamond master-stones & lighting etc. Ample samples are available to provide hands-on practice
- Interpreting the contents of a diamond grading report and the factors that impact the quality of a diamond
- The weighing system and methods for diamond weight

- Total of 40 course hours.
- 2.5 hours per session, 2 sessions per week.

- Ideally, applicants should have completed O-level or higher education or possess at least 3 years of relevant work experience in the jewelry industry.
